About the Artist: Davison Welch was a life-long Hopkinton resident (1920-2014) beloved for his paintings of Hopkinton, the Marathon and the Red Sox. In High School, Davison was a baseball pitcher. He began sketching during the Depression. This interest became his career after studying at the Art Institute of Boston. Artist Welch was a gunnery instructor in the Army Air Corps during World War II when his skills became useful drawing enemy bombers. After the war he worked as a commercial artist and graphic designer, eventually retiring in 1975. He could be seen often in Town including the annual Polyarts Festival on the Common. Davison’s art lives on in the homes and businesses in Hopkinton.
But wait! We shall also sell commemorative medallions for runners, family and friends. Please read on.
